HHS to Preserve Local Artifacts

Message from Hastings Historical Society

Hastings – Mon., March 11, 2024 – The Hastings Historical Society’s Executive Committee members embarked on an ambitious project to catalogue and preserve our incredible collection of Hastings artifacts. We identified the need for archival-quality storage materials and an updated inventory.

With our finances recovering from the pandemic, we are thrilled to announce that our application for financial assistance from the Hastings Hydro Fund has been approved by Trent Hills Council for $1,393.28! We are very grateful to Council members for your support and trust.

We also deeply appreciate the time and effort of Abigail and Katie from Northumberland County Archives.  You have been an invaluable and enthusiastic resource in identifying our needs and answering many questions during this exciting journey!

Watch for updates as we continue our collaboration in the coming weeks as we catalogue and safely pack our artifacts using the best practices in conservation techniques.

Our team is excited to invest many additional volunteer hours so that our collection can be shared for the education and enjoyment of our community while being preserved for future generations.
