Goes to Northumberland Eats Voucher Program
United Way Northumberland (UWN) has announced that the organization has been selected as the recipient of the latest grant from the 100+ Women Who Care Northumberland, receiving $8,434 to go towards the Northumberland Eats Voucher Program.
This donation, presented on November 14, 2023, during the group’s meeting at Lalies & The Dutch in Cobourg, marks the largest grant ever distributed by 100+ Women Who Care Northumberland.
Northumberland Eats, a program led by United Way Northumberland in partnership with Northumberland County, is designed to provide food support to families in need while also supporting local businesses. Social service organizations distribute vouchers to individuals and families across the county who are struggling with food insecurity. These vouchers can be used like cash at nearly 25 local restaurants and food vendors.
Last year, $140,000 was invested into the Northumberland Eats Voucher Program to help people in Northumberland County get access to fresh and healthy meals.
With the support of the grant from 100+ Women Who Care Northumberland, we can provide more vouchers to individuals and families in our community, especially as the holidays approach. We understand that times are tough for many, and these vouchers can make a real difference.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the 100+ Women Who Care Northumberland for choosing Northumberland Eats for this grant,” says Maggie Darling, Acting Executive Director, United Way Northumberland. “Together, we are making a positive impact in the lives of our community members and ensuring that nutritious food reaches the tables of individuals and families in our community.”
