Who was DAVE DOWN?
For many kids, Dave was the best part of a school day. In his years running the Warkworth Farm Supply, Dave kept a bucket behind the counter that was stocked with candy suckers. As soon as school was out, kids would stop in on their way home to say hi to Dave and try to earn a sucker. They knew what they had to do: tell Dave a joke that made him laugh, tell him something they learned that day, or play an instrument. He went through lots of suckers! So much fun, kindness & connection that made his community a better place — nobody felt alone when Dave was around.
Participants & spectators! Here’s Saturday’s 5K Run/Walk ROUTE.
Start time: 9:20 am. (For safety & convenience, route takes in more Millennium Trail time, cutting out the early downtown stretch altogether.)
Start: Picnic shelter east to far side of baseball diamond, then west to Millennium Trail entrance.
Exit up Main, across Concession Rd, onto Norham Rd and left onto Dudley. Along Dudley to turnaround where Norham curves to meet it. Back down Dudley, across Concession and enter Millennium Trail.
East past gazebo to end of trail, loop around, and head west across soccer fields to finish line.
