Cobourg Man Arrested

Officer Injured at the Port Hope McDonalds Drive Thru

On Sunday, July 30th, 2023, at 4:57pm, Port Hope Police Service officers on general patrol received a call of a stolen vehicle in the drive thru at the McDonalds in Port Hope. Upon arrival, the officers engaged with the driver. 

As a result, one of the officers, a female, was injured and transported to Northumberland Hills Hospital. News reports claim the officer was hit by a richocheting bullet.

The officer was treated and released. The same day, the OPP were called to assist in the investigation and subsequently, took charge.

On Monday, the OPP arrested a male in connection with the incident that involved the Port Hope officer.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m., members of they arrested Jordan DENNY, 30-years-old of Cobourg, Ontario. He has been charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation of a vehicle – two counts
  • Flight From Police
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information.

‘We are extremely fortunate and appreciative that our officer will recover from her injuries,” said the Port Hope Police Service in a press release.
