Okay, Cobourg Westenders, Let’s Get Ready To… What! Drive Around?

For how long?

The Town of Cobourg and Lakefront Utility Services Inc. have informed residents that construction will begin the week of July 3 on the Westwood Drive watermain improvement project.

The Town of Cobourg and Lakefront Utility Services Inc. have engaged CIMA Canada Inc. to complete the design for the replacement of the watermain and road surface improvements on Westwood Drive, from Burnham to Kerr Street. Beginning the week of July 3, 2023, Westwood Drive will be closed to through traffic between Kerr Street and Burnham Street, for approximately five months. Access will be permitted to local area residents only.

The first stage of construction activities will begin at the north end of the project at Kerr Street and progress towards the north leg of Willow Crescent. Vehicular access to the Westwood Plaza will be maintained throughout the duration of construction. To assist residents, navigate around the construction, the Town of Cobourg and Lakefront Utility Services Inc. have developed the following detour map.

Project Updates:

A public information session was held in February to educate residents about the project as well as address questions and concerns. Further, construction notices were delivered to area residents earlier this month to provide a notice of project commencement as well as contact information for project managers.

Throughout the duration of the project, updates will be made available online through both the Town of Cobourg (https://www.cobourg.ca/en/town-hall/Reports-Studies-and-Plans.aspx) and Lakefront Utility Services Inc. (https://www.lakefrontutilities.com/planned-work/).
