Golden Plough Lodge Administrator worked for 13 years in Northumberland
Northumberland County has announced that after 40 years of public service, including 13 years of dedicated service to the Northumberland community, Golden Plough Lodge (GPL) Administrator Bill Detlor will be retiring. Mr. Detlor spent over 10 years in senior leadership roles with Northumberland Paramedics before taking on the role of Administrator of the GPL in 2020. He will conclude his role with the County effective July 7, 2023.
“Bill has been an integral part of the County team since joining our organization in 2010,” states CAO Jennifer Moore. “Throughout his tenure, he has made significant contributions to health and wellbeing in Northumberland. As a seasoned team-builder, he has engaged his staff to pursue the County Mission of being a best practices leader, and this has translated into exceptional services for our community. Although we will miss Bill’s leadership, warmth, and wisdom, we wish him all the best in his retirement.”
As Chief of Northumberland Paramedics, Bill reorganized deployment of crews and ambulances to increase paramedic coverage for the community. He also enhanced the use of data analytics to strengthen emergency first response. In 2020, he launched the highly anticipated Community Paramedicine Program, further strengthening community partnerships through tables like the Ontario Health Team of Northumberland to enhance patient and caregiver experience with the health care system.
Later in 2020, Bill took on a new role as Administrator of the GPL, shifting his focus from emergency pre-hospital and preventative health care to long-term care. Perhaps most notably, in this role, Bill led GPL staff and residents safely through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He has since implemented a peer support program to strengthen mental health supports for staff, and introduced new measures to foster an innovative and engaging work environment.
“Bill has demonstrated time and again that excellence, exceptional service, collaboration, and grit are the pillars of his leadership philosophy,” states County Warden Mandy Martin. “Through his work in both paramedicine and long-term care, he has helped to improve health outcomes for Northumberland residents. On behalf of County Council, we recognize and thank Bill for his years of service.”
Northumberland County will launch a recruitment process for the Administrator of the Golden Plough Lodge in the coming months.
