Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Campaign Raises a Record Amount!
More than $755,768 Raised for new CT Scanner
Trent Hills – Fri., March 8, 2024 — The Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) Foundation’s 17th Annual Angels of Care Campaign has been a tremendous success raising over $755,768 for the new CT Scanner.
“We cannot thank the community enough for showing it’s compassion for the hospital by contributing such a significant amount to the Angels of Care Campaign and the new CT Scanner,” says Martha Hunt, Chair, CMH Foundation, adding: “Donors make all of the difference in the world by providing the funds needed to purchase life-saving diagnostic equipment for CMH. We are extremely grateful”.
The new CT Scanner, now being installed at CMH, is replacing the original 13-year-old Scanner. The new machine will be more reliable and provide greater detailed imaging, allowing physicians to make more efficient diagnoses. Colleen Smith, Diagnostic Imaging Manager says, “You typically don’t see this type of equipment in smaller hospitals and it allows us to provide a level of care to our patients often not seen in communities of our size.” The new CT Scanner is expected to be up and running by early April.
A great deal of the success of the campaign is due to The Matchmakers, who pulled together to match all gifts made to the Campaign up to $400,000. During the Campaign, donors contributed $380,384. The Matchmakers doubled that amount bringing the Campaign total to $755,768. Special thanks to our Matchmakers, Bruce and Betsy Thompson, Joanne Simpkin, MacLaren Pharmacy, the Estate of Bill Scott and two anonymous donors.
More than 42,000 area residents are treated annually at CMH. This includes patients requiring a stay in the In-Patient Unit, a diagnostic test such as an ultrasound, x-ray or CT Scan, have lab work done or a visit to the Emergency Department. If it were not for the financial support from the community many of these critical services and the required medical equipment would not be available.
The Provincial Government does not provide funds for the purchase of new equipment. That responsibility is in the hands of our generous donor community. Donor giving does indeed change everything.
