Road Hockey Challenge

Campbellford – Fri., Jan. 10, 2024 – Putting the “fun” back into “fun”draiser, Councillor Daniel Giddings has challenged Trent Hills Fire Chief to another competition.
The first was a weight-loss challenge, the second is, as Daniel explains, “a battle of good old-fashioned ball hockey.”
And it’s all for a good cause, the Campbellford Memorial Hospital’s CT Scanner campaign.
“Although it sounds like I’m challenging him out of the blue, we’ve been planning this, and we just tried to create a rivalry on Facebook and Instagram so people can have fun with it,” Daniel told Trent Hills Now.
He’s now seeking “bragging rights” in a ball hockey competition that’s going to happen Family Day weekend.
“What we’re trying to do is between now and then the team is trying to see who can raise the most money for the hospital,” he explained.
And so it is on Trent Hills!
“The Chief has accepted my challenge,” said Daniel with enthusiasm.
“Make sure you come out Family Day Weekend and support your team to win against the Chief’s team!,” Daniel wrote in his posts.
Shawn’s team includes the firefighters and Daniel’s team includes the owners of the rebels. The new owners are: Daniel Giddings, President; Dave Marsh, Vice-President; and Bryce Ellis, Director of Hockey Operations.
There will be hot dogs, cotton candy, hot chocolate, prizes and more. Local businesses are donating the food.
All proceeds will go towards the new CT Scanner at CMH.
The ball hockey is taking place in the parking area of the EMS Base in Campbellford.
Family Day is a provincial holiday in Ontario and is celebrated on the third Monday of February every year. In 2024, Family Day falls on Monday, February 19
“That night at 5:30 p.m. we’ve got a game against the Rebels at the Campbellford Arena. We’re doing a First Responders Night,” added Giddings.
