What’s Happening In Cobourg August 3 to August 8

Yay! Long Weekend! Welcome to the Annual Sidewalk Sale! Cobourg Yacht Club Regatta! & James Cockburn Day!

Cobourg municipal offices and buildings, including Victoria Hall, the Cobourg Community Centre, the Cobourg Public Library, Public Works Building 7 and the Venture13 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre will be closed on Monday, August 7, 2023.

However, Cobourg Transit will be running its regular hours of operation on the Civic Holiday.


 Thursday, August 3 to Saturday, August 5 — 10 am to 6 pm — 55th Annual Sidewalk Sale

Shop ’til you drop while being serenaded by amazing local talent. Stop in for a beverage and a bite to eat on one of the six extended patios. Bring the family and be sure to check out the kids’ zone! Please note there are road closures on King Street from Hibernia to Division, and Second Street is also closed.

Friday, August 4 to Sunday, August 6 — Lake Yacht Racing Association (LYRA) Regatta — Cobourg Yacht Club

LYRA is believed to be the oldest association of yacht clubs on the continent, formed in 1884 by delegates from clubs in both Canada and the United States, and its Freeman race began its own history in 1921.

Monday, August 7, 11 a.m. — James Cockburn Day — Sifton-Cook Heritage Centre, 141 Orr Street Cobourg

This year James Cockburn Day will be celebrated by a presentation at the Sifton-Cook Heritage Centre called Mercy Cole, Miss Confederation and the Cobourg Railway Stop. This engaging, interactive event will explore a critical moment leading up to Confederation. Visit for details.
