Temporary lot for GM

Grafton has its own field of dreams….or make that its own field of “trucks.”
Car hauling transports hauling loaded with new vehicles are continuing to drop new GM Oshawa-made trucks into a temporary field parking lot on the north side of Highway 401 at the Lyle Street exit in Grafton.
Hundreds of vehicles of all kinds of colours are lined up in what used to be an open field near the village after GM sold its headquarters (located on the outskirts of Oshawa) and the parking lots for new vehicles.
“We recently sold our former headquarters building, which required moving some vehicles to a new location,” Monte Doran GM Canada’s director of corporate and internal communications told the News Now Network. “These trucks are ready to ship.”
They are going to dealerships across Canada and the U.S.
“However,” Doran continued, “we are facing ongoing rail car shortages, and are working with our logistics partners to deliver vehicles to our dealers as quickly as possible.”
Three security vehicles were on site at the Centreton Road ever-expanding impromptu parking lot when this photographer was on site Tuesday, June 6 just as another fully-loaded transport arrived.
The field has previously been excavated but is now level to accommodate the new vehicles which keep arriving.
GM makes light and heavy duty full sized trucks at its Oshawa facilities.
Editor’s Note: A question about the zoning and installation of the lot was raised by a reader. Subsequently, MacDonald contacted Alnwick/Haldimand officials who told her that Alnwick/Haldimand Chief Building Official Daryl Hall is investigating what is happening at the site.

If reporting a story get the facts correct this is an illegal parking lot
This is farm land and the excavating of the property was done illegally
Call the township to ask why this was not stopped

Indeed it’s Lyle Street north of the 401 on the way to Centreton
