ENSS keeps on winning — ENSS track and field team wins the overall COSSA championship

The ENSS track and field team won the 2023 COSSA overall team title with 499 points over second place St. Peter CSS (325 points) and third place Adam Scott CVI (272 points), on Thursday, May 25, 2023.

The ENSS girls won their division, with 208 points over second place Adam Scott (171 points) and St. Peter (171 points). 

The ENSS boys won their division, with 291 points over second place St. Peter (154) and third place Bayside SS (119 points). 

More than 32 schools competed at the COSSA championship.

Individual COSSA champions from ENSS included:

  • Zack Flatt – 1st senior shot put (12.02 m), 1st discus (37.92 m)
  • Cadence Tait – 1st 1500 m (5:06), 2nd 3000 m (11 :27), 3rd 800 m (2 :34)
  • Aidan Molenhuis – 1st senior 110 m hurdles (17.77 s), 2nd high jump (1.75 m), 4th 400 m hurdles (1:04)
  • Liam Adaman – 1st novice javelin (36.28 m), 3rd shot put (11.40 m), 3rd discus (28.00 m)
  • Chase Eddy – 1st novice 1500 m (4:42), 2nd 800 m (2:14)
  • Hailey McMurter – 1st novice high jump (1.34 m), 2nd long jump (4.22 m)
  • Ethan Miklos – 1st junior 800 m (2:11), 3rd 1500 m (4:38), 5th 3000 m (10:54)
  • Jacob Wamboldt – 1st junior 300 m hurdles (43.63 s), 5th 400 m (55.66 s)
  • Brayden Clark – 1st senior long jump (5.94 m)

COSSA champion relay teams from ENSS were:

  • Novice girls’ 4 x 100 m relay – Kate Andrews, Azariyah Barnes, Phoebe Mooney, Emma Corkery (55.73 s)
  • Senior boys’ 4 x 100 m relay – Malcolm Whittle, Aidan Fairbank, Zaid Wedderburn-Harper, Brayden Clark (45.13 s)

A total of 45 ENSS athletes, including six relay teams, finished in the top five at COSSA; top five finishers will advance to the OFSAA East Regional qualifying meet, next week, in Ottawa.
